How to get there
Kibale National Park sits in the foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains in the western region of Uganda, and most tour operators typically include it as a part of a more extended Uganda Safari package rather than being a standalone destination.
The starting point for the chimp trekking trail is at Kanyanchu Vistor Center, approximately 35 km (20 mi) southeast of Fort Portal, the closest city. The drive from Fort Portal to Kanyanchu takes 30-45 minutes on a well-maintained road.
Coming from Kampala, Kibale is approximately 360 km (224 mi), which takes about 6 hours driving. There are domestic flights to Kasese Airport, a 2-hour drive to Kibale; your tour manager can organize the local flights.
The quickest extention to Kibale is Queen Elizabeth National Park, about a 2-3-hour drive. Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable & Mgahinga is approximately a whole day's drive from Kibale.
